Markham Fair
On October 4th, the 7 and 8 class went to the Markham Fair for a field trip. We really enjoy going to the fair. It is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other better, especially at the beginning of the school year. We learned about urbanization, the loss of valuable farmland to development and how it affects people. The Markham Fair is Canada’s largest four day fall harvest fair. This fair has happened every year since 1844. There are many exciting things to see and do there, like the horse show and all the fall harvests. There was a lot of delicious autumn food! While we were there, we explored Markham Fair with our friends and got to know some volunteers by interviewing them. Our favourite part was seeing all the competitions for the largest chickens, pumpkins, knitted clothes, and the best baked goods. If you like animals, this is a great place for you, there are barns full of farm animals that are exciting to see! The only downside about our trip this year was that it was grey and rainy, but just remember that it’s not like that every year! If you haven’t gone to the Markham Fair before, we would highly suggest it. We promise that it will be a great experience!
