TDSB Parent Conference (Saturday November 15)

Registration is open for the 8th Annual Parent Involvement Makes a Difference Conference on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Earl Haig Secondary School, 100 Princess Avenue from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm. (Please note: this is Earl Haig Secondary School in the Yonge and Sheppard area not to be confused with Earl Haig P.S. at Coxwell and Danforth).

Keynote speaker J. Richard Gentry, PH. D., a former university professor and elementary school teacher and author of “Raising Confident Readers: How to Teach Your Child to Read and Write” will deliver the keynote on Raising Confident Readers from K-12. He hopes to help bring back research-based spelling and writing in elementary school.

Workshops will run throughout the day and include topics such as: Building Skills in Reading and Writing; What about Math; Family Storytelling; French … helping your child to succeed; and many more. There will also be an information marketplace that will feature an array of community agencies, TDSB programs and services and vendors offering great educational ideas and giveaways throughout the day.
