Roden Needs You!

Roden School Council fun fairs have been tremendously successful at building community while raising to the tune of close to $30,000 in 3 years. The fairs have varied is size and scope, but they are never easy to pull off.

This is where YOU come in. Yes, you.

wantyou

If the Fun Fair is going to happen in June 2017, we need you to volunteer some of your time to make our fair successful and to fill our children with school spirit. Being on the Fun Fair team doesn’t mean long hours or endless meetings. We’re looking for a BIG team of people who can each take on a SMALL task.  Last year, we did just that and boy, was it every successful! Our school AND community were engaged and the kids had a blast! The fair can be as big or small as the team wants it. But, here’s an idea of roles we’re looking to fill:

  • Generating ideas by attending a meeting or two
  • Graphic design
  • Hanging posters in the neighbourhood
  • Promotion on social media & other local media outlets
  • Find monetary sponsorships
  • Find vendors for face painting, balloons and other activities
  • Food (plan menus, find food sponsors and vendors)
  • Find Entertainment
  • Equipment rental (bouncy castles, rock climbing wall, etc)
  • Games (generating ideas and finding supplies)
  • Administrative things (photocopying, data entry, spreadsheet tracking, etc)
  • Prizes (generate ideas and find donations)
  • Recognition (print certificates and coordinate delivery after the event)

We’re counting on YOU.

E-mail Nadia at funfair@roden.ca to confirm your interest in joining the Fun Fair Team or to find out more.

School Spirit Events & Fundraising 2016/2017 Plans

Our goal with fundraising is to provide Roden students with enriched programming. Most events are about building school and community spirit. Funds raised are directed to various initiatives such as field trips, workshops, cultural enrichment, books, instruments, extra-curricular clubs, etc. School Council receives funding requests from staff and establishes council priorities each year. Using the budget and expected revenue, Council then determines how best to allocate funds based on need and priorities.

The following School Spirit Events & Fundraisers will support Roden in 2016/2017. Stay tuned for more information about fund allocation and upcoming donation opportunities!
