Spring has finally arrived! And with it comes one of the busiest times of year in our schools.
The TDSB just celebrated Day of Pink, a global campaign to celebrate inclusion, and end transphobia and bullying. Earth Day activities are being planned. Students, neighbours and families are getting their bikes back on the road, and more students are walking to school. Please do what you can to encourage active transportation to and from school, and if you are a driver, keep your eyes out at crosswalks and intersections.
Many of you are also busily organizing school fun fairs and graduations. I look forward to chatting with some of you at an upcoming event of one kind or another this spring.
In the meantime, there is much to update you on. I hope you enjoy this newsletter.
All my best,

Cultural Enrichment Events

Collage

This year, a group of School Council members decided it was important to start a sub-committee that would work on arts-focussed cultural enrichment opportunities for the entire school. After working with VP Mr. O’Shaughnessy for the last several months, three cultural events have been organized that will benefit the entire student body. The first event, a musical presentation called “Fiesta and Carnival” will occur on April 21. This will be followed on May 11 and 12 with performances from The National Ballet of Canada, and on May 26 with a theatrical presentation of the fairy tale classic, Peter Pan.

These three cultural experiences are being entirely funded by the Roden School Council with funds raised from events such as movie nights. With the continued support of the Roden School Council and the parent community, the Cultural Enrichment Committee looks forward to bringing a full year’s worth of cultural events and performances to the Roden student body during the next academic year.

Hello Roden Parents!

The annual Roden Fun Fair! is coming up on Friday, June 3 and we will need your help to make it the place to be! The fair needs loads of volunteers to make it a success and all money is directed to your kids through school enrichment and programming.

Last year we had 100 volunteers representing current and past Roden students, high school students and Roden parents. Once again, we’ll need just as many so our kids can eat, jump and play!

Stay tuned for more details and contact funfair@roden.ca if you can help out.
